Welcome to the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Office of Public Affairs. The success of KU Medical Center has never been more critical to our region and state. Our goal in Public Affairs is to ensure that the people and institutions we serve are connected to the work KU Medical Center is doing to advance the health of all of our citizens.

The Office of Public Affairs helps KU Medical Center define and deliver its messages to a variety of audiences – students, faculty, staff, alumni, media, community and government leaders, and the public at large. Every day, we oversee a variety of public relations activities, communications, and community relations initiatives designed to increase public understanding of our education, research, clinical and community service programs.

Specifically, the functions of Public Affairs are to advance the mission, vision and strategic objectives of the University of Kansas Medical Center by:

• Providing clear and concise internal and external communication through media, web, and written materials.
• Providing thoughtful data-driven public policy recommendations.
• Expanding partnerships with local and community leaders -- such as local chambers of commerce, community organizations, and local elected officials.
• Promoting collaboration across the various schools and campuses.
