Fall 2006 Update from Dr. Atkinson:

After conducting several of my annual departmental town hall meetings, I have decided to circulate further information regarding government affairs. Below, please see the official state website giving information on this year's Kansas and Missouri elections, as well as websites with which you can find your legislators and state school board officials.

In addition, I have included information on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In June, CMS issued a proposed rule that, if it goes into effect, could increase evaluation and management services payments starting January 1, 2007. If you have an opinion on this matter, I have included a link below to the eRulemaking part of the CMS website and information on how to voice your opinion.

Should you have questions or comments on government affairs - state or federal - here at KUMC, please contact me or our public policy analyst, Dorothy Hughes, at dhughes@kumc.edu or x8-0256.

Thank you,
Barbara Atkinson, MD
Executive Vice Chancellor
